WTWTA

One of our favorite movies was released on video this week: Where the Wild Things Are. It's a great story about tough times being a kid and being in a family.
So we planned a special night to watch this movie all together. Friday night was it. To make it more fun we made the whole night themed on the movie. We had a Wild Things Dinner and we decorated the living room to look like a jungle.
Ellen was the Queen of the Wild Things. She had a crown and a scepter and rather than dressing up like a wolf she got to wear her favorite dress. She ruled over our "wild rumpus". We practiced our roars together.
Joe and Ellen got some good angry roars going on. Ellen's two favorite parts of the movie were: 1)the dirt clod war, and 2) when Max comes back and says sorry to his mom. It was a fun night to watch a movie and make it a little bit more unique.

And fortunately the Jungle Book is coming from netflix so we're leaving up the jungle decorations!

That is way cool. Best parents of the...week award. I heard that movie was kinda scary? I've been debating watching with my kiddos. Did Ellen do okay with the scary parts?

When we watched it at the theater she had me hold when one of the Wild Things tried to eat Max, but he had it coming...it gets intense at some points, but she loves it. She doesn't get scared easy.
