This month is kindergarten registration for the school district here. And unbelievably I have a child to register! In two weeks Ellen and I will be taking a trip to the elementary school and getting her started on her path to kindergarten! :)
She is excited to start school. I after a small teaching job that I two 4 days a week and Ellen comes with me. She is getting really into doing things that prove hose smart she is. She'll read us letters or even spell some words then ask, "Mom, am I so smart?" We always answer 'Yes, you are smart."
Naturally her new understanding of how to assess herself on smartness has given her the ability to judge our smartness as well. The other day Mommy did something not too smart. Ellen remarked, "Mommy you are not smart". That got us giggling. :)
Luckily Joe was there to defend me to our 4 year old.
J: "Ellen. Mommy is smart."
We're still giggling a little. After Joe says this then Ellen says kind of quietly with her head looking down, "Well, she doesn't look smart."
Our jaws dropped and we couldn't stop laughing!

My Sadie loves to tell people her mom can't draw as well as her. I have/get to register her for kindergarten soon too. :( I am sad, but she is glad.
